Since our inception in 1989, REJN has maintained a space for rural and
urban grassroots groups in the South to build relationships for mutual
benefit, to collectively develop big picture analysis and
vision
the just society --principles, structures, and practices -- we are
striving for, to train leadership, and to build stronger local
organizations. Our focus has been to support local economic justice
organizing and working class leadership, particularly that of women and
youth. REJN also is a vehicle for strategic action and advocacy. Our
members share best organizing practices and exchange and create strategies
for advocacy and organizing together. For the last decade,
REJN has promoted a global justice movement, by adding international
partners to the mix and a program of international networking.
This dimension has been central to our global/local analysis and has made
REJN unique in the region.
We have summarized our approach as
fundamentals "
transformational organizing.
" We seek to create
healthy individuals, families, organizations and communities as we strive
to build a just society.
